The Telkom CLOSER fixed rate plan only applies to normal fixed line calls and excludes Internet, International and mobile calls. This means that calls to your ISP will be charged at standard rates. You can pay an extra R150 for 150 internet hours, which is not bad, but you are stuck at a fixed rate of R150 per month. InfinitCall can still work out cheaper, depending on your specific needs.
- The cheaper rates only apply for the first hour of a call, after an hour standard rates apply.
- Long distance calls to Telkom phones are cheaper.
- Calls in Standard time are much more expensive (for option 1 and 2).
- A quick local call under a minute will cost R1.40 instead of R0.59 (for option 1).
- The plans include normal Home Line rental and Call Answer.
- InfinitCall Plan and Prepaid customers cannot use CLOSER.
Summary
It can work out cheaper if you only make voice calls to Telkom phones or if you make a lot of long distance calls. Internet calls are not cheaper except if you spent more than R150 on dialup calls anyway and for some reason can't use InfinitCall. CLOSER3 can reduce costs if you make most calls in Standard time.
